New global trends are affecting consumer habits. In a stressful and polluting world, today’s consumers are looking for greater ease in their daily lives and a healthy environment, and any industry that wants to meet the demands of these consumers must adapt to the new environment.
In the clothes detergents sector, the growing demand for environmentally-friendly products has increased the popularity of cold washing, which calls for detergents that are more effective at a low temperature. In addition, detergent formulations must be gentle on fabrics, preserving the good state of the clothes to lengthen their use or even give them another life in the increasingly popular second hand markets.
Fresh aromas and whiteness are now the most sought-after attributes in detergents. In fact, clothes are washed increasingly more, and getting rid of dirt is no longer an easy problem to solve. Now, the challenges are to keep the fibres in good condition and prevent clothes from going grey through repeated washing.
To meet the new needs, besides surfactants, builders and polymers, at Quimidroga we offer the Biotouch® range of enzymes. Enzymes are now common in domestic detergents. This type of organic molecule acts specifically on a specific substratum, and it does so in very low doses and at lower washing temperatures. The actions carried out by enzymes lead to improved effectiveness of the detergent that is less aggressive to the fibres. All of this means that new clothes detergents can be formulated with a smaller amount of surfactants, they are also effective at very low temperatures and they allow the life of clothes to be prolonged.
|The Biotouch® range commercialised by Quimidroga is made up of unique enzymes that make detergents more effective and improve the characteristics of the fabrics. Biotouch® enzymes provide an efficient and more sustainable alternative for the manufacture of detergent products, with doses of between 0.1 and 0.5 % in both liquid and powder detergents.|
Notable in the Biotouch® range are the cellulases, whose functions are to:
- Soften cotton fibres.
- Prevent and repair pilling (the appearance of bobbles).
- Stop cotton fabrics from going grey through repeated washing.
There are also Biotouch® proteases, with a specific role in the breakdown of proteins, and enzymes that act on specific stains, such as mananase.
AB Enzymes is the manufacturer of Biotouch® enzymes. It is a European industrial biotechnology company that specialises in enzymes and their applications. Since 1907, it has developed, manufactured and supplied enzyme preparations for industrial applications all over the world.
Quimidroga commercialises the enzymes for detergents of AB Enzymes in Spain, France and Portugal.
